Billton arose out of a need for a small easily set up layout on which to try out new ideas and to test loco’s etc.
Billton aims to portray a small 1950’s station of LNWR origins on the industrial outskirts of a large town, but is not based on any particular location. An extension has now been added depicting part of an industrial (heavy engineering) complex with an internal rail system and interchange sidings which can be operated independently.
Drawing on past exhibition experience, construction has focused on simplicity with a minimum of electrical connections and components being used.

The layout is built to 12mm gauge and is 20′ long x 1’8″ wide.
Billton has moved on to two new owners as Billton Works and Billton (station)
