3mm Standards

Here are the 3mm Society Standards and Loading gauges for those working in 3mm Scale to various gauges.  Over the years a number of track gauges have been proposed and adopted and although some people work to these, the majority of modellers use the 12mm gauge intermediate standard or the 14.2mm gauge Finescale standard.

Anyone wishing to develop products for 3mm scale is welcome to use these standards and we would encourage producers to contact the Society for further details and practical experience.

Axle and Bearing standards.

Here are the standards used for 3mm scale rolling stock axles and both inside and outside bearings.  They are for use with all 3mm scale track gauges. Bearing RP003 is for use with etched ‘W’ irons and bearing SD091 (Slaters) is for use with plastic axle boxes.  Click on thumbnail for larger image.
