HG002 – BR Roller Bearing Wagon axlebox – wm, needs W irons

£1.00

SKU: HG002 Category:

Description

BR Wagon Roller Bearing axlebox & long spring, swing link hanger, without W Iron.
These components are intended to allow the construction of a wide variety of more modern (c.1980) BR wagons. Unmodified, they represent the suspension units found on the long – wheel base ‘Speedlink’ type wagons, but can be easily altered to suit other types. The parts may be used either for modifying existing kits, or with the 3mm Society ‘W’ irons.
First, clean off any flash, then drill out the axle hole. That done, it is now possible to file down the thickness of the plate on which the axlebox is mounted, by gently rubbing the back of the part against a file or emery board. Care is required, since the join between the springs and secondary suspension is not very strong. If doing any quantity, it may be worth making a Milliput mould to hold the casting face down while you file. For the earlier types of roller – bearing, cut off the secondary suspension links at the points shown below:

If used with the Society ‘W’ irons these require a Suitably shaped piece of 10′ plasticard to cover over the ‘W’, since modern irons are more like a ‘V’ [This note may refer to HD001 before the HD003 Plate ‘W’ iron appeared].
