The late Peter Gentle’s Shed Layout “Somerford”

Peter Gentle was one of the Society’s longest serving members and he started what was known by many people as his GWR “shed layout” Somerford about thirty-five years ago. The station building was based on that at Cirencester and many of Peter’s buildings were based on local prototypes. The layout is to 12mm gauge and was operated to a timetable using clocks adjusted to run in scale time.

Following Peter’s death in 2013, the layout was broken up and although parts still exist the layout in this form is no more. These photos are a lasting memory of the shed layout and a testament to Peter’s skills as a 3mm modeller.
