Having been a collector of Tri-ang TT for a number of years I had amassed a large amount of non Tri-ang 3mm scale parts contemporary for the late 1950’s and 1960’s. I remembered seeing articles on layouts such as Longacre and Lydney in Railway Modeller in 1965 and decided to built a layout to show what could have been built using items that were available in the 1960’s and using sixties methods.
The layout depicts an outer suburban station with main line trains passing through, and suburban services terminating in the centre bays. There is also a small goods yard, carriage sidings and loco depot.
You will see standard Tri-ang TT models and white metal loco kits running on Tri-ang chassis, Peco Wonderful Wagons and Kitmaster coaches plus items from other manufacturers such as GEM, Essenal, K’s and BEC, running on track by Wrenn and GEM, through a Buildeezi and Airfix town.
Control uses H & M Duette controllers and H&M point motors.
Scenery has been built using traditional sixties methods such as strips of newspaper over card formers.
