Smokebox Doors

Most Smokebox Doors are fastened shut with a pair of darts, looking like the hands of a clock with one at 6 O’clock with the door shut, some use fastening dogs round the rim, and some use one dart with a wheel, or a wheel alone. Many of the castings leave you to make your own dart from wire. Some, particularly most of those with dog fastenings, include the Smokebox front as part of the casting, most others do not.
